Is agricultural drone spraying good? What are its advantages and disadvantages?
With the circulation of land, drones will be more widely used in our agriculture. However, drones also have their own advantages and disadvantages. If we want to use drones, we must figure out these advantages and disadvantages.
Let's talk about the advantages first. The first one is time-saving, labor-saving, and labor-saving. The drone sprays drugs very fast. It can be said that it takes tens of minutes to do the work. If we want to spray the drugs manually, it may take a day. Let's take an example. If we say that we are hitting ten acres of land, it takes about a day to spray the pesticide manually, while for drones, it takes 20 minutes. Therefore, the efficiency of drones is dozens of times higher than that of humans. In addition, if we say that there are serious diseases and insect pests on our crops, they come very quickly, and they can be controlled in a timely manner by using drones to spray drugs.
The second advantage is that the degree of atomization is high and the spray is very uniform. The nozzles of agricultural drones are generally ultra-fine atomizing nozzles, so the degree of atomization is very high. At the same time, its flying speed is basically uniform, so the spray is more uniform, so it can improve the control effect.
The third advantage is that the restrictions are small. Whether it is fruit trees, wheat, corn and other field crops, as long as there are no obstacles that hinder flight, such as telephone poles, wires, relatively tall trees, etc., the drone can successfully complete the spraying operation. Then, if it is artificial, such as spraying fruit trees, it is not as convenient as drones. Also, this year's corn, rust disease appeared on a large scale in the later stage. Because the corn plant is very high, it is very inconvenient to spray drugs manually at this time. If you use a drone, it is more convenient to prevent and control.
The fourth advantage is saving water and medicine. An electric sprayer, let’s calculate it based on 40 kilograms of water, according to our farmer friends’ habit of spraying medicine, generally it can hit seven or eight cents of land, and some go fast, it can hit one acre of land. For drones, the amount of water used to hit an acre of land is about 1 kilogram, or 2 kilograms of water. The amount of medicine used is also one acre of land. In sunny and windless weather, the amount of medicine used by the drone is 1/2 or 2/3 of that of the sprayer, and the amount of medicine used is reduced by at least 1/3. Of course, if it is windy, there will be drift and some waste. At the same time, if you encounter some relatively resistant pests and diseases, the drones will also need to increase the amount of pesticides.
However, there are also many shortcomings in drone drug delivery. We must also be clear and look at drones objectively.
The first shortcoming is the inability to fight through. This is also the biggest shortcoming of drones to fight drugs. Let’s take this year’s wheat as an example. There are many diseases and insect pests on wheat, such as aphids and rust, not only on the upper part, but also on the middle and lower parts. Although the drone sprays the medicine uniformly, it is easy to fail to penetrate, that is, it cannot reach the middle and lower parts, let alone the prevention and control of the rhizome. If the concentration is increased arbitrarily, it is likely to cause phytotoxicity.
The second disadvantage is that drones are prone to drift when spraying drugs. Because drones are used for flying operations, if the weather is clear and windless, if there is a little wind, there may be uneven spray, some places have more medicine, and some places have less medicine, or even missed spray.
At the same time, the liquid medicine will drift. This point should be paid more attention when spraying herbicides. If it drifts to the surrounding crops, it is likely to cause phytotoxicity.
The third disadvantage is that the overall cost is high. For example, some farms or large land contractors have their own agricultural drones, and the cost is not low whether they are purchased or maintained.
Our Company
Founded in 2013, FPdrone is well known as a comprehensive DRONE manufacturer at producing research, surveying, manufacturing and good sales service. And since 2014, we start to make the research for the thermal technology with drone together, to make the solution of Oil pipeline inspection, heating pipe inspection, substation inspection, large equipment maintenance, fire protection applications, and the search rescue. And since 2016, according to our old customers' feedback, we began to focus on the spraying system of agricultural drone to help large farms solve the problems encountered in the spraying process.
